This page is recommendations only—if a restaurant appears here, we think it’s worth your time and your appetite. These are our favorite general Tex-Mex spots (we’ll cover tacos and breakfast burritos on their own pages).
Tex-Mex in Midland
Gerardo’s Casita
More than a restaurant, Gerardo’s is a piece of Midland history. Serving the Permian Basin since 1977— right across from Rosa’s Café—this beloved spot has weathered booms and busts to become a true West Texas staple.
The low-lit, homey dining room sets the tone for a menu full of comfort: burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, chimichangas, and creamy plates that hit every Tex-Mex craving. You’ll also find surprises like burgers, shrimp, and catfish, all cooked with the same care. Portions are generous and most meals land in the $10–$20 range.
Hours: Tue–Sat: 11 AM – 9 PM | Sun & Mon: Closed
