Burgers

Midland’s Best Burgers

Not every burger joint makes it onto this list — only the ones we’d honestly recommend. If you see a restaurant here, we think it’s worth your time (and appetite).

Addie’s Diner serves up a classic no-frills burger in a nostalgic 1950s setting. At the same time, Red Plate Diner offers a complete lineup of gourmet burgers, from old-fashioned favorites to green chile–loaded specialties. Vidal’s Old-Fashioned Burgers keeps it simple with a walk-up stand, friendly service, and no-nonsense burgers that hit the spot every time. And if it’s Wednesday, you’ll want to head over to Riley’s Bar & Grill for their once-a-week burger special — a true barroom classic.

These are our picks for Midland’s best, and we’ll keep adding as we discover more that meet the standard.

Addie’s Diner

I took a tip from Ask Midland on Facebook and stopped by Addie’s to try their burger — and it didn’t disappoint. The burger itself is huge, easily big enough to share, and more than satisfying on its own. The fries came out hot, crisp, and plentiful, the perfect sidekick. Addie’s keeps its classic 1950s diner charm alive with friendly service that makes the visit even better. And yes, the iced tea — served in a signature red cup — was excellent. Big burger, great fries, top-notch service, and refreshing tea: Addie’s hits all the marks.

Riley’s Bar & Grill

📖 Menu: call for daily specials | 💲 10 – 20 per person | 📍 3421 W Wall St, Midland, TX 79701 | ☎️ (432) 520-0006

Riley’s Bar & Grill serves up its legendary burgers every Wednesday starting around 11:30, paired with golden-brown crinkle fries. The bun is homemade with a perfect char, just like the patty, giving it that unmistakable barroom burger appeal. It’s the kind of burger that can change the trajectory of your day — what starts as a quick lunch break could easily turn into an afternoon spent fishing instead of working. Riley’s is one of those long-standing Midland spots people tend to forget about, but it’s worth remembering. So next Wednesday, grab your lunch crew and head to Riley’s for what Vincent (Samuel L. Jackson) in Pulp Fiction would simply call: “a tasty burger.”

Hours: Mon: 1 PM – 2 AM | Tue–Sat: 10:30 AM – 2 AM | Sun: 12 PM – 2 AM.
Pro tip: Burger day is Wednesday; service typically begins around 11:30 AM.

Red Plate Diner

📖 View Menu | 💲 10 – 20 per person | 📍 900 W Loop 250 N Ste C, Midland, TX 79705 | ☎️ (432) 570-7271

Burgers are the headliners at Red Plate Diner, and the lineup reads like a greatest-hits album of diner classics. Start simple with The Original—lettuce, tomato, pickles, and red onion on a sesame bun— or go cheesy with the Old-Fashioned or the Sourdough Cheeseburger grilled on buttery sourdough. Craving something stacked? The Bacon Cheeseburger delivers the salt-smoky kick you’re after, while the Gourmet Burger piles on grilled mushrooms, Monterey Jack, and fresh fixings for a richer bite.

The specialty set brings some swagger: a tangy BBQ Burger with bacon, a chili-topped Chili Burger crowned with cheddar, and a true diner staple—the Patty Melt on grilled rye with melty American and sautéed onions. West Texans will feel right at home with the Burger Olé (Monterey Jack, green chiles, salsa, all the trimmings) or the California Patty Melt with avocado, mushrooms, and onions on sourdough.

Every burger comes with your choice of sides—think shoestring or wedge fries, potato salad, chips, side salad, fruit, cottage cheese, sliced tomatoes, or tangy slaw. You can upgrade to onion rings or a cup of soup, and add extras like cheese, bacon, avocado, or jalapeños. Pro tip: feeling bold? You can make it a double or even a triple.

Hours: Mon–Sat: 7 AM – 4 PM | Sun: Closed.
